Oct 30, 2016 – [Sunday] WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Transmogrify [Reposted]

Madrid, Spain, taken on September 13, 2013

[Reposted because of image error in previous post.] Street performers often are able to transform themselves into art itself and their creativity is endless. In Madrid, Spain, I saw two men who seemed to be able to transmogrify themselves into life-size figurines made of clay. Could have fooled me! (Side note: I had always thought the word “transmogrification” was used only in Harry Potter, but apparently…not. Thanks, WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge 😉 )

Oct 16, 2016 – [Sunday] WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Local

Toronto, Canada, taken on July 30, 2011

Tim Hortons is as representative of the Canadian culture and spirit as is hockey. Every neighbourhood has its own local Tim Hortons stores and growing up in Toronto, we were never too far from one of them – very convenient when you’re doing your morning coffee run or if you’re craving a midnight donut!

Oct 02, 2016 – [Sunday] WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgia

Guangzhou, China, taken on April 8, 2015

To me, nothing screams “nostalgia” more than food from my childhood, especially the cow offals (internal organs) – we call them “ngau jap” in Cantonese – that were ubiquitous on the streets of Guangzhou. Nowadays I can get this in Canada as well, but the ones sold at food carts in random corners or alleys in Guangzhou are still the best because they’ve retained the original taste and smell that fill the streets before you even reach them. And it’s the taste and smell of long-forgotten childhood that restore all of those buried memories, so precious and so nostalgic.
