Hoi An, Vietnam, taken on December 26, 2015
Hoi An is a very touristy city, but the locals of Hoi An live simple and genuine lives as their authentic selves. Sometimes I wonder if tourism does more harm than good to a city… (See the original photo in colour.)

Hanoi, Vietnam, taken on December 29, 2015
I met some memorable tour guides during my trip to Vietnam, and one of them was Tien, who guided us during the Hanoi city tour. For a tour guide, every visitor of his group might seem the same to him, but a good tour guide can make the visitor’s day, like Tien did 😉 (See the original photo in colour.)

Hoi An, Vietnam, taken on December 25, 2015
Cycling through Hoi An in Vietnam was one of my favourite memories of the first Southeast Asia trip, and the highlight would have to be exploring the little vegetable village of Tra Que on the way. Such tranquility and peace in the outskirts of a busy city to relax and rejuvenate!

Ta Van, Vietnam, taken on December 30, 2015
Dinnertime is the perfect moment of sharing not only food, but conversations and happiness. One of the most memorable dinners I’ve had recently (sort of) was in Ta Van village, after a group of 10 trekkers arrived at our homestay for the night. Many of us were wet and muddy from the trek in the rain and definitely very tired and looking forward to some homemade Vietnamese food. Our host certainly prepared for us what seemed like a feast, and it was almost paradise on a table! Let’s dig in!

Halong Bay, Vietnam, taken on January 2, 2016
Like my friend and me, these guys were waiting at a patio for the bus to take them from Halong Bay back to Hanoi after a cruise trip. How much longer do we have to wait? (See the original photo in colour.)
