Hanoi, Vietnam, taken on December 28, 2015

The “hangs” of Hanoi are intricate in a sense that they define the old quarter of the city, and you could find anything and everything there. The name of each “hang” tells you the specialty of each area, so you would find a street with shops selling only jewelry or another selling only home appliances. Of course there’d be an area with an endless array of shoe shops, perhaps a good place to be if you need to prepare for your hike in Sapa!

Sapa, Vietnam, taken on December 30, 2015

An old Vietnamese lady was busy sewing as we passed by her home in a village in Sapa during my hike, so focused that perhaps she did not even notice the presence of company. (See the original photo in colour.)

Sapa, Vietnam, taken on December 31, 2015

A lady stood by the door of her house in the Sapa villages in Vietnam as we hiked past her. I wonder what she was thinking of as every day, so many tourists come and go through her village. (See the original photo in colour.)

Huế, Vietnam, taken on December 28, 2015

In the imperial palace in Huế, Vietnam, one of my favourite features were the red elements in one of the temples, whether it’s the columns, roofs, lanterns, or doors. The entire felt so extravagant, yet so full of silence and serenity at the same time.

Where Am I?
