Mar 18, 2016 – [Friday] Patterns: Pont de Pierre

Bordeaux, France, taken on October 9, 2010

Upon arriving in elegant Bordeaux for the first time 5.5 years ago, one of the first things to do was to, of course, capture an obligatory photo of an elegant tram crossing the elegant Pont de Pierre – literally “Stone Bridge” or “Peter’s Bridge”. Symmetry is beautiful!

Jan 25, 2016 – [Monday] The Places I Called Home: Tram in a tunnel

Bordeaux, France, taken on October 9, 2010

One of the first things that I loved about Bordeaux was the Place des Quinconces, especially the trees that lined the path connecting the city and the quais. It always felt like a natural tunnel, particuarly when a tram passes through the corridor. The sound of the tram and the sound of the rustling leaves – I’m not sure which one I like more…perhaps it is the perfect combination of the two that makes this city so charming, year after year.

Jul 07, 2015 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Miroir de Bordeaux

Bordeaux, France, taken on April 24, 2011

The first time I managed to take a decent photo of the reflection of la Place de la Bourse at the Miroir d’Eau was when I figured out that the “night scene” mode on my old point-and-shoot camera could do wonders. It was no high-tech DSLR, but the result was already better than what I had anticipated – and the black and white version looks even more stunning! (See the original photo in colour.)
