Apr 27, 2015 – [Monday] The Places I Called Home: Sunshine in LLN

Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, taken on April 14, 2013

My strolls around the small university community of Louvain-la-Neuve usually ended up in the area around the lake, where on an unusually warm day that almost felt like summer, lots of people were out and enjoying the sunshine. One learns very well to take advantage of every ray of sunshine in Belgium, where rain often fell. Of course, the 21-degree-Celsius temperature that day dropped to 12 degrees the next day, and I wondered if spring was just an illusion…

Apr 03, 2015 – [Friday] Anything Goes: Hope of spring

Glasgow, Scotland, taken on March 14, 2015

Now that the flowers on the tree outside my office building is almost in full bloom, we have some hope that spring is finally here in Scotland! As a result, I am quite happy every day as I walk by this tree. This is, of course, neglecting the fact that we had a day of four seasons (rain, snow, hail, sun, wind within the same day at 10-minute intervals) just a few days ago… 😛

Mar 24, 2015 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Main Building

Glasgow, Scotland, taken on March 21, 2015

It seems blasphemous to put a rare photo of sunny Glasgow in black and white, but I like to do the unconventional 😛 Yes, this photo was taken last Saturday, on arguably the most gorgeous day in Glasgow this year so far. Chasing away the usual gray clouds, the sun and the blue sky were so welcoming that some of my friends and I decided to pick up our instruments and head over to the University of Glasgow. We sat on the grass beside the Main Building of the university and filled the air with music. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon spent, albeit it did get a bit cold eventually! (See the original photo in colour.)

May 21, 2014 – Thorns

Forecast of rain turned out to be wrong and I’m so glad I took the chance to go out and enjoy the sun today. On the way I saw some sharp, menacing thorns, in stark contrast to the mellow and colourful flowers in the background. I wonder if they can defend themselves against tigers, like the Little Prince’s roses thought she could with her four thorns.
