April 29, 2013 – Cabo da Roca

Cabo da Roca, or “cape of the rock”, is popularly known as the westernmost point of continental Europe. The famous Portuguese poet Luís de Camões described Cabo da Roca as “Aqui, onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa…(Here, where the land ends and the sea begins…)” The wind was strong, but the view of the sea was fascinating 😀

December 29, 2012 – Pornic

Hear me out before you start judging me (is WordPress gonna let me go through with this?)…Pornic is a town in Pays de la Loire in western France…funny name, huh? Well, that’s precisely why I made the unplanned detour to this coastal town, just to see what it’s like, and it turns out that Pornic is actually quite a cute little town! With 8 hours to spare in Nantes and a one-way trip that took only an hour and a half, I spent 2.5 hours in Pornic, walking along the paths towards the edge of the town to see the Atlantic Ocean. There was a château, and yes, there were boats, lots of boats! Even though it was extremely windy, the most unexpected part of my 4-day trip became the best part. Adios and back to Bordeaux!
