Sep 20, 2016 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Abandoned shipyard

Macau, China, taken on December 21, 2015

My one-day trip to Macau included a stop at an abandoned shipyard, which was on the island of Coloane, if I remember correctly. Aged and tattered is how I would describe it, with an air of mystery too, if I may add. (See the original photo in colour.)

May 14, 2016 – [Saturday] Is this what you call art? – Stone dragon

Macau, China, taken on December 21, 2015

The stone carvings at the A-Ma temples in Macau depict a dragon that guards the main gate of the palace and are so delicate and full of detail. Things like this make me marvel at the way people create art and the amount of time that it must have taken to turn an ordinary pillar of stone into something spectacular like these carvings. I am genuinely awed.

Feb 03, 2016 – [Wednesday] Travel Favs: Pastéis de nata

Macau, China, taken on December 21, 2015

You simply do not miss trying the pastéis de nata when visiting Macau. Originally the pastéis de Belém, these egg tarts (or simply “Portuguese tarts” in Chinese) gained popularity in Macau and is a must-have when trying local Macanese foods. It’s similar to the Chinese egg tarts but have a slightly different texture and taste to it. I’ve had them a long time ago but I don’t remember them being this good…!

Dec 22, 2015 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Gondolier

Macau, China, taken on December 21, 2015

The Venetian is the largest casino in the world, and a visit to Macau wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Venetian. The interior of the casino was designed to mimic the real Venice in Italy, but Venice wouldn’t be Venice without some gondolas and of course, gondoliers! This happy ukulele-playing man is probably not a real gondolier, but he was just so adorable. I wanted to go give him a hug – if only we weren’t separated by a canal!
