It’s been many years since I’ve had IKEA’s signature meatballs and though I never understood what the big deal was, I gotta admit that they’re pretty good. I made the mistake of ordering a large portion, thinking that it came with 15 meatballs while really it came with 21. Oh well, I could finish it since I was so hungry anyway – throw in that cheesecake too, please!

I don’t like the university’s food outlets very much, but when I don’t bring my own lunch (which is often nowadays) and have to choose between one of the school restaurants, I prefer going to One A the Square at the main building. I ate here again today, and surprisingly the roast beef was pretty good. It seems like that gentleman over there was enjoying his food too!

When I did (part of) my PhD in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, one of the best places to go for lunch is a sandwich shop called La Mie d’Oli. Looking up the word “mie” in French, it means “inside of bread”…I’m astonished that there’s a word for it in French! Anyway, there’s always a long line-up at the shop during lunch time, and their sandwiches are oh-so-very-delicious! My favourites would have to be Le Breton (chicken chunks, cheese, bacon, lettuce, and peppercorn sauce) or Le Calypso (smoked salmon, mozzarella, shallots, lettuce, and salad dressing). I think this was Le Breton…though it might actually be Le Calypso, I don’t remember. I might have to make a trip to LLN during my July travels just to have another taste of these sandwiches…
The last time I’ve been to Sushi On Bloor must have been something like five years ago. I had lunch with the sister there today, both of getting bento boxes and some maki rolls to share. Surprisingly the place is as good as I remembered it to be, leaving us both very satisfied 😀
First lunch at the new home, shrimps with fried egg and onions, a lazy girl’s favourite 😀 I dashed to the groceries yesterday when I arrived as the stores are closed today and tomorrow, and I should have enough to last me at least a few days.
