If the stairways to heaven exist, then these green steps in Inchcailloch might be the ones. They do lead to a graveyard, if I remember correctly…a fitting description, no?

The lochs and hills of Scotland are such lovely treasures of this mystic country – I wonder how many love stories have taken place along the bonnie banks o’ loch lomond, hopefully with better endings than that in the song 😦

These little wild flowers, each no bigger than the size of a Skittle, are the cutest things ever. I saw a field of these while descent from Conic Hill and stopped awhile to admire them. (See the original photo in colour.)

The climb to the top of Conic Hill was strenuous, but very rewarding! The views were amazing and worth every step of the way up! What made the summit even more enjoyable was the bag of white chocolate cookies that I brought with me to recharge my energy. I gotta give myself a pat on the back and a cookie to commend the efforts. Onto higher hills and mountains I go!

Every time I see the hills and mountains of Scotland, I just want to shout at the top of my lungs…the hills are alive! And they certainly are, as there is such a sense of spirituality surrounding these magical hills, especially when I climb one. Hiking up Conic Hill near Loch Lomond was an unforgettable experience of a close, personal interaction with these living, breathing hills that seem to call out to me, singing songs they have sung for a thousand years. Higher, higher, higher!
