The area around Plaça d’Espanya, where the National Art Museum of Catalonia (pictured above) is situated, is my favourite place in Barcelona. I visited it during the day five year ago and was able to see its stunning lights and the “Magic Fountain” during my most recent visit less than a week ago. Magnificent!

The trip back from Toronto to Glasgow last week was an overnight flight and a perfect opportunity to see the lights of Toronto from high up. I think if I were to sit by the window on the other side, I would have gotten an even more spectacular view of downtown Toronto at night, but I was happy with this one. Bye for now, Canada.

There was one specific occasion engraved in my mind where I felt genuinely and completely happy. It was an evening in December 2012 at the Bordeaux Christmas market, with a friend alongside me strolling through the colourful booths in the light rain. For some reason the company and the atmosphere made me feel so content, so joyful, and from that day onward, that exact spot where the Christmas markets are held every year has become my happy place, somewhere only I know.

I think I should be allowed to post the obligatory I’ve-been-to-Hong-Kong-and-seen-the-impressive-skyline-by-night-and-therefore-took-a-nice-photo-of-it photo, even though everyone else who’s been to Victoria Harbour at night has probably taken the exact same photo. C’mon, it’s pretty, and you know I can’t resist night lights 😉

Here is a stunning night scene of the Santa Maria del Flore during Christmas in Florence, Italy. Because of a 2-hour train delay, I didn’t spend as much time as I would have liked in Florence, making it one of the cities to go back to eventually.
