Kunming, China, taken on December 23, 2016
Seagulls aren’t exactly a rare sight and contrarily, they are quite commonly seen in many places. However, seagulls in Kunming during the winter is a completely different sight. At the Green Lake, thousands of migrant red-beaked seagulls arrive for the winter, taking advantage of the warmth of Kunming. I had never seen so many seagulls in one place all at once, but here is one that I managed to get quite close to. Hi there!
Huzhou, China, taken on December 15, 2016
Suzhou is certainly not the only place in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang area with beautiful gardens. Huzhou, a relatively small and uncrowded city compared with Suzhou and Hangzhou, hides the gorgeous Lotus Garden, a haven for people who just want to relax. The “small bridges and flowing waters” of the garden are characteristic of the Jiangnan (south Yangtze River area) region and are the symbol of classical Chinese beauty. Hangzhou, China, taken on December 14, 2016
When I visited Hangzhou in summer 2010, I was so stunned by the beauty of the West Lake that I made it a bucket list item to visit this beautiful place in every season. Now I am visiting it during the winter and although there is no snow, the West Lake is still elegantly beautiful as expected. The willows along the banks add such grace to the landscape and I fell in love with it all over again. Anticipating the next visit – spring or fall – already!
Zurich, Switzerland, taken on August 5, 2012
I had no recollection of ever taking this photo but found it as I was organizing old photos from previous trips. A lone duck swimming in the clear green waters of Zurich…strangely, I kind of like it.
Annecy, France, taken on March 22, 2013
A short visit to Annecy with my buddies included a nice walk by Lake Annecy. I spy with my little eyes (or lens?) my friend DRG on the far side of the row of boats 😉
