A black windmill waves in the rainy air as a flock of birds travel beyond the skies. Windmills gave me my first impression of the Netherlands as a child, and what a calm feeling it adds to the Dutch landscape 🙂

Dragonflies can be a pain to photography, but when they do cooperate, we get to see how beautiful they are. This particular blue dragonfly, which I encountered during a trip to Kinderdijk in the Netherlands, probably really wanted to pose for me because it was unusually still and unperturbed.
On the way to Amsterdam, friend and I made a short detour to Kinderdijk, one of the windmill sites in the Netherlands, near Rotterdam. It was early morning, and these birds were observing the tourists from the waterside.
