Reykjavik is an attractive city with many things that make it unique, including its public art. By the waterfront you can find this sculpture, Islandsvardan, erected on a pile of rocks.

The morning glow behind the Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik, Iceland illuminates the sky for a new day. The only thing is…this photo was taken at almost 11:30am, and the sky was still not completely bright yet! Daylight certainly is scarce and arrives late during the mid-winter in a country as northerly as Iceland!

Sometimes it’s convenient to have some spare change in your pocket when travelling. Icelandic coins are special in that each features a different type of fish or sea creature. These include a cod on the 1 kr coin, two dolphins on the 5 kr coin, four capelin on the 10 kr coin, a shore crab on the 50 kr coin, and a lumpfish on the 100 kr coin. Iceland is my favourite place ever and I fell in love with it even before the plane landed for the first time. Upon approaching the island, the amazing landscape captivated me from outside the window – barren and isolated were the feelings that this land first gave me. Who would have thought that even so, I would come to love this magical country so much… ❤
