Hoi An is a very touristy city, but the locals of Hoi An live simple and genuine lives as their authentic selves. Sometimes I wonder if tourism does more harm than good to a city… (See the original photo in colour.)

Cycling through Hoi An in Vietnam was one of my favourite memories of the first Southeast Asia trip, and the highlight would have to be exploring the little vegetable village of Tra Que on the way. Such tranquility and peace in the outskirts of a busy city to relax and rejuvenate!

Continuing on with the “people of Southeast Asia” series, we have here a man with many lanterns at a market in Hoi An. I believe he is the vendor manning this lantern booth. This is one of those photos where colour and the lack thereof makes a big difference to the entire mood. (See the original photo in colour.)
