Nov 16, 2016 – [Wednesday] Travel Favs: Hiking in the snow
Le Semnoz, France, taken on March 21, 2013
The snowy hike on Le Semnoz during my third and final PhD training school was one of the most memorable events of my grad school days. Oh, it wasn’t a “gentle” hike, as advertised! However, my awesome colleagues made the trip infinitely much more enjoyable. Charge on, FunMates!
Nov 06, 2016 – [Sunday] WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Chaos
Le Semnoz, France, taken on March 21, 2013
In March 2013, during a training school session, my colleagues and I went on an excursion to Le Semnoz, where we went snowshoeing in team. At one point I was taking a group photo for one of the teams, and everything was fine until…someone tripped. Or someone pushed someone else?! Whatever it was, surely chaos ensued and the initial fall of one person triggered an entire chain reaction that resulted in half the team falling onto the ground into deep snow. As a bystander I found it rather hilarious to watch everyone try (or not!) to get back on their feet while still not sure what had happened. It might as well have been a huge snow fight that I’d love to have joined!
Oct 12, 2016 – [Wednesday] Travel Favs: Black Linn Falls
Dunkeld, Scotland, taken on October 8, 2016
The Black Linn Falls at the Hermitage near Dunkeld is so far the most beautiful waterfall I’ve seen in Scotland, and if you know me well, you know that I love waterfalls! Of course this was the perfect chance to add to my “Food and the Scotland hikes” collection…except that McDonald’s forgot to put cream cheese in my bagel!
