I was filming an amateurish and experimental short video with my good friend Yuehong and also taking random shots of her as the main character in different locations around Bordeaux. The video was meant to portray a melancholic atmosphere, and I think YH showed it perfectly here, with an air of sorrow, uncertainty, and a tint of hope. (See the original photo in colour.)
Update: Today is the 5th anniversary of this blog! I’ve had loads of fun running this daily blog over the past five years (though I didn’t always update every day) but I’ve decided to end the “daily” aspect of it here. I will keep the blog alive but will post perhaps only twice a week instead of once a day. Thanks for your continuous support!

Before heading back to Bordeaux from Toronto, I found out at the airport that my sister was in fact Salvador Dali. Got us fooled all these years, girl!

I love seeing the joyful smiles on my friends’ faces, so genuine and carefree. Hate to see them leave so soon though 😦 (See the original photo in colour.)
Waterloo, Canada, taken on September 24, 2008
Last week we had Sherry and Pierre, and this week it’s just Pierre! This photo was taken after our friend Andrew somehow found him after years of disappearance, and he visited us in Waterloo for once. He was holding the rose that he made out of a maple leaf that he gifted me, and I kept it for a long time after it became dry and brittle. I love and miss this guy so much!
Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, taken on November 9, 2013
Amir had been such a kind friend when I was in Louvain-la-Neuve for my studies, and he was certainly a goofy guy too! One can always expect to have a great time with him – with a few bottles of Belgian beer, too, of course! (See the original photo in colour.)
