Nov 18, 2016 – [Friday] Patterns: Nathan Phillips Square from above

Toronto, Canada, taken on May 28, 2016

Doors Open Toronto is an annual event that allows people to access many buildings and historical sites that may normally be off limits to the general public. One of the places of interest was the Toronto City Hall, including the observation deck on the 28th (or 29th?) floor with a view of Nathan Phillips Square down below. There was a stage and apparently some sort of group exercise event that was going on while I was looking down – a charity dance, perhaps?

Nov 15, 2016 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Streets of Hanoi

Hanoi, Vietnam, taken on December 29, 2015

My tour of Hanoi included a ride on a cyclo through the old quarter of the city. It was quite an experience navigating through the busy streets on this three-wheeled vehicle, and I was glad that the elderly gentleman who rode the cyclo knew where he was going as I would have certainly gotten lost if I were to wander around by myself, not to mention probably being hit by one of the countless motorbikes! (See the original photo in colour.)

Nov 09, 2016 – [Wednesday] Travel Favs: Florence, lit up

Florence, Italy, taken on December 19, 2013

At dusk, when the sky hadn’t gone completely dark at 5pm in December, Florence became lit up by streetlights on both sides of the Arno river. I had planned to be at the Piazzale Michelangelo (in the far distance in this photo) for a sunset from the hill with my dad, but train delays ruined the plan 😦 Still, old Firenze looked beautiful in the early evening!
