May 24, 2016 – [Tuesday] Black & White: Montreal from Mount Royal

Montreal, Canada, taken on May 16, 2016

The climb to the top of Mount Royal, after which the city of Montreal was named, was a sweaty one, but worthy for the city views! The story of Montreal was also laid out in front of the city as follows: “On October 2nd, 1535, Jacques Cartier, discoverer of Canada, climbed the mountain under the guidance of the Indians of the village of Hochelaca and, impressed with the beauty of the landscape displayed before his eyes, he gave it the name of Mount Royal, from which the city of Montreal took its name.” (See the original photo in colour.)

May 23, 2016 – [Monday] Anything Goes: Tulips in Ottawa

Ottawa, Canada, taken on May 23, 2016

Just in time for the last day of the Tulip Festival this year in Ottawa – woohoo! I dropped by Major’s Hill Park where the tulips were still in bloom, and beautiful they were! Of course you can’t compare the ones in Ottawa with what they have in Keukenhof, but I was still quite impressed after having been to the same festival 14 years or so ago. Thanks for your gratitude, Netherlands!

May 18, 2016 – [Wednesday] Travel Favs: Notre-Dame de MontrĂ©al

Montreal, Canada, taken on May 15, 2016

I’ve been to several Notre-Dames – the ones in Paris, Notre-Dame (USA), and Montreal – and the one in Montreal has got to be the most impressive. Many years ago when I was here, I’ve already seen it but I don’t have much memory of that trip since it’s been almost 14 years. A few days ago, when I saw the inside of the grand basilica again, I was rather stunned by its majesty. So gorgeous!
