This most impressive thing about this ceiling may be that it was found in the lobby of a public thermal bath in Budapest, Hungary. Of course, it was gorgeous, and if you told me it were found in a museum, I’d believe you easily, but in a bath-house? This just goes to show the presence of beautiful art is everywhere in Budapest, a city I loved so much! (See the original photo in colour.)

One of my favourite cities in Europe, Budapest, is home to many beautiful bridges. My favourite one wasn’t the famous Chain Bridge, but the Liberty Bridge (I called it “the green bridge”) pictured above. Ah, I miss Budapest! (See the original photo in colour.)

Feb 19, 2015 – [Thursday] Song Titles: Thank You for the Music

A little bit of music can add a dash of colour to any city, and street musicians are the hidden gems that bring the melodies to life. These two cute old men, who were performing at the Fishermen’s Bastion in Budapest, warmed my heart with their simple Hungarian melodies and coarse voices. Not only was I hooked on the songs they were playing and singing, but I was also touched by how REAL they were. They may not have been the most professional musicians, but their authenticity and genuine smiles beat any concert performance. Thank you for the music, my dear friends, for the songs that you were singing that brightened up my day.

I always like lookouts from high places. It makes me feel as if I’m watching over a city, even as if I’m able to watch over the whole world. I wasn’t able to see this girl’s face, but I wonder what thoughts ran through her mind as she sat on GellĂ©rt Hill with all of Budapest in front of her eyes. (See the original photo in colour.)

December 30, 2014 – Matthias Church

[Travel time] One of my favourite places out of the ones I’ve visited in Budapest is the Fishermen’s Bastion. Right beside the Fishermen’s Bastion is Matthias Church, pictured above, with an equestrian statue of St. Stephen I of Hungary in front of it.
