In Huzhou we saw this interesting sculpture of what seemed to be a food vendor in the old days, and my mom was certainly more fond of the man in the sculpture than were the rest of us. Her “interaction” with the sculpture actually seemed to make the entire scene come alive – how amusing!

I’ve seen my fair share of street art but I saw street calligraphy with water for the first time near Green Lake Park in Kunming. Excellent technique and beautiful writing – what skill!
Guangzhou, China, taken on December 21, 2016
Many sculptures are scattered around Shamian Island in Guangzhou, depicting traditional Cantonese life in the old “Xiguan” area of the city back in the days. One of my favourites is that of an elderly man taking his caged pet bird out for a walk, a rather common sight in the old days in Guangzhou.

Suzhou is well known for its beautiful classic gardens and a visit to Suzhou is not complete without admiring one or two of these. The layout and decorations of each garden are intricately and elegantly designed, a true classical Chinese architectural masterpiece.
