Ooh, Shiny! Buzz – oh look, it’s a bee! Bees always manage to catch my attention, often sidetracking me from wherever I am going. They are such graceful creatures and their romance with flowers is one of the most elegant things in the world. When they stay still and pose for me cooperatively, I can’t help but admire the wonders and powers of nature. Beautiful!

This little thing was difficult to capture as it kept moving around and trying to avoid me. C’mon, lil’ one, don’t be afraid of meeeeeeeee!

Salmons are resilient creatures as they must swim upstream against violent currents to spawn. While strolling along the Don River with my dad one autumn day we saw HUGE salmons in the river, jumping fiercely against the current but failing to reach the high point time after time. Then after a few minutes, they tried again, failed again, and prepared again to continue trying. Keep going, buddies!

I had no recollection of ever taking this photo but found it as I was organizing old photos from previous trips. A lone duck swimming in the clear green waters of Zurich…strangely, I kind of like it.

It looks like papa tortoise was talking to a very curious baby tortoise. There was definitely some profound life lesson goin’ on in that pond! (See the original photo in colour.)
