January 11, 2014 – Mount Rigi

[Travel time] Alright, 3rd trip to Switzerland – first up, Mount Rigi. Out of Titlis, Pilatus, and Rigi, I chose Rigi as a half-day excursion from Lucerne. It was hugely foggy in Lucerne in the morning, but as the train mounted higher and higher into the Alps, we broke through the fog and came out in the clear. The views from Rigi were amazing. The lake of clouds hovered in the air while the Alps stretched endlessly into the distance. The view of my dreams – wow. I wasn’t adequately prepared for the cold (though I did manage to stay warm), or else I would have done the hike down halfway. Switzerland, what a fascinating country.

March 21, 2013 – Snowshoeing

The excursion for this year’s training school was a hiking trip on a “gentle mountain” named Le Semnoz. I gotta admit that it was quite well organized. The guides were informative and the hike was heck of an experience, especially with so many colleagues and friends!
