Oct 11, 2017 – WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale

Glasgow, Scotland, taken on September 23, 2017

The Ames Room is one of my favourite optical illusions and a perfect demonstration of scale or…the distorted perception of scale. I wasn’t so convinced when I saw photos and videos of this illusion, but when I saw the REAL thing at the Glasgow Science Centre, I was quite awed. Here one twin appears to be a giant while the other looks like a midget…makes sense or no?! I’m still unable to explain how it works exactly but I guess that’s the fun part about optical illusions – you don’t need an explanation for it to be amusing!

January 04, 2015 – Border

[Travel time] Home sweet home…or not??? Major delays at London Heathrow meant that I had to miss my connecting flight to Glasgow, but before I dealt with that, I had to get through border control first. “Up to 30 minutes” huh…I think it took around 40 minutes to get to the front of the line. What a great end to the trip and great beginning of the year in the UK…at least I got in!

January 03, 2015 – Annie in January 2015, with friend

[Travel time] Having heard that Lafayette in Paris installed its Christmas tree upside down this year, I decided to go take a look with my friend Mengmeng. It was my first time having a coffee with such a dazzling view in front of me, and I quite enjoyed sitting on the 3rd floor watching busy shoppers on the level below. The best part, of course, was the time spent with my friend. We don’t get to see each other much anymore, so every opportunity to meet was dearly cherished 🙂
