January 01, 2015 – Gospel concert

[Travel time] One of the reasons I decided to make a stop in Paris before heading back to Glasgow, aside from seeing some friends, was to attend the new year gospel concerts (two of them) at the Maison de la Mutualitรฉ. The venue welcomed over 1500 guests during each concert – what a way to start the year with a blast.

December 11, 2014 – Night & Day

I work in a building right next to the gorgeous Wellington Church and tonight was the first time I went inside – for the Night & Day Concerts by Candlelight, presented by the Scottish Ensemble. Cold evening, but the cozy atmosphere inside the church and the lovely music warmed me up right away ๐Ÿ™‚

December 04, 2014 – Turkey

Tonight was the MiMe lab Christmas dinner with the labmates ๐Ÿ™‚ Although I rarely, if ever, order turkey, I figured I’d give it a try for the sake of Christmas spirit. My favourite part of the dish is actually the variety of sides accompanying the turkey – broccoli, Brussels sprouts, bacon-wrapped sausages, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and a strange red sauce of some sort. Very early happy holidays to everyone ๐Ÿ˜›

November 22, 2014 – Moroccan food at the market

I went to the Christmas market in the Glasgow city centre today for the main reason of trying the FOOD. I went through the market briefly last week and saw a variety of food from different countries – Germany, India, France, Greece, and so on. The food hunt began and one of the things I tried was Moroccan food, featured here. I got couscous with chicken tajine and spicy lamb, served by this jolly man wearing a Santa hat (in addition to German bratwurst and Spanish paella). Boy the food was good and I was stuffed!
