The word ephemeral holds a particular profound significance for me because it is an important word in my favourite book of all-time, The Little Prince. TLP’s rose is ephemeral, “threatened by imminent disappearance”, said the geographer. So is this lone maple leaf, who has turned a bright red as the end of autumn draws near. The beautiful colours of fall are mesmerizing, but no more than ephemeral as the foliage turns from green to yellow to orange to red to brown to white, upon the arrival of the first winter snow. Yet the seasons come and go, ephemeral perhaps, but in an eternal cycle.
Beautiful photo, great colours. I love that book ๐
