May 13, 2014 – Zongzi

The wonderful thing about browsing Chinese grocery stores is the amount of variety and colour that I get to explore. As the Chinese Duanwu festival is coming soon, the store has a special aisle just for selling “zongzi”, a special food eaten for the Duanwu occasion. Zongzi is glutinous rice stuffed with various types of meats, nuts, and pastes, then wrapped with lotus or bamboo leafs and finally tied up. Alternatively, you could make them at home. We should be getting some of these soon 😉
